The death of her mother, who Wurl took care of for the final three years of her life, greatly impacted Wurl. She only wanted to sleep, barely ate for weeks and lost weight.

“I didn’t want to live,” Wurl said. “I had no hope.”

After receiving assistance from medical professionals, family and the community, Wurl is treating her illnesses and doing much better.

“I want to live now,” Wurl said. “I see tremendous opportunity and growth.”
