Peer Support Groups

NAMI Racine County Peer Support Groups are peer-led groups for adults who are living with a mental health condition.

  • 1st & 3rd Thursdays 6:30pm - 8:00pm

Peer Support Groups are confidential and registration is not required. These groups are closed to family members or others who may like to attend as a means of providing support to a loved one.

Survivors of Suicide

S.O.S. provides a safe space for people who have lost a loved one to suicide to share the experiences of life after loss.

  • 2nd Wednesday 6:00pm - 7:00pm

S.O.S is confidential and registration is not required, but is encouraged by emailing Sheri Hess at shess@namiracine.org. These groups are closed to people who have tried to take their own life. Participation is discouraged for anyone who has recently lost a loved one, as conversations may be triggering.

Family C.A.R.E.S.

is a support group for people who love someone with a mental health condition

Sexual Abuse/Assault Survivor (SAAS) Support Group

for individuals who have experienced SA/A and want mental health support

Offered free of charge, this group is led by trained SA/A advocates who have experienced mental health concerns.

This program is offered in partnership with BeLEAF Survivors

Veteran Support Group

Specifically designed to support military veterans, this peer-led group connects active and former service members to each other in a safe space to share lived experience and learned wisdom.

Veteran Support Group is confidential and registration is not required. These groups are closed to anyone who is not an active or veteran member of the military (Navy, Army, Coast Guard, Marine, Air Force). This group is provided in partnership with Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin.

Teen Talk

Designed for ages 13-19, Teen Talk is led by teens and supported by Sheri Hess, Outreach Coordinator at NAMI Racine County, and by a licensed counselor who works with youth. This is not intended to be group therapy. Rather, it is created as an expansion of the NAMI Ending the Silence presentation to help teens experiencing mental health symptoms connect with others who know what it’s like.

    To make this a success, we need courageous teens to help break the stigma and get involved. If you would like to participate, please email Sheri Hess at shess@namiracine.org to be the first to hear about upcoming groups.

Registration is not required. These groups are closed to anyone over 19. This group is supported by Andis Foundation.

Carthage College NAMI Peer Support Group

This support group provides a safe space exclusively for Carthage students who are seeking mental health support from their peers.

This group is provided through Carthage College’s Department of Health and Counseling Center. Contact Kelly Smith at health@carthage.edu for more information on this and other services offered. This group is closed to anyone who is not a current Carthage College enrolled student.

  • Please arrive approximately 5 minutes prior to the start of your group.

  • All support groups offered by NAMI Racine County are provided free of charge to participants. Donations are accepted.

  • All groups are facilitated by trained group leaders who have lived experience. These groups follow a structured format to ensure each person has an opportunity to be heard.

  • These listings are subject to changes or cancellations.

  • All support groups are confidential. We will not share the names of participants in any public manner unless a waiver form has been completed. However, if a person indicates they are at risk of harming themselves or another, NAMI Racine County reserves the right to contact the appropriate parties to maintain safety.
