NAMI Racine County Appoints New Executive Director

Bridget Munson has been appointed Executive Director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Racine County. Munson’s background in marketing, combined with her administrative strengths and deep passion for mental health advocacy have allowed her to hit the ground running in support of the organization’s strategic plan outlined earlier this year.

“Bridget’s experience at both the staff and volunteer level in the NAMI movement align closely with key objectives of our three-year strategic plan which includes increased awareness about and growth of essential NAMI programming during a time of unprecedented need for mental health support and services,” says Pat Bohon, President of the Board of Directors. “She will collaborate closely with NAMI staff, volunteers, and community partners to advance our mission.”

Munson assumed the role June 6, and has worked in tandem with the outgoing Executive Director, Michelle Gehring, over the past few weeks to ensure a seamless transition.

“We are excited that Bridget has joined NAMI Racine County and look forward to her active involvement and leadership  as we deliver essential NAMI services,” said Julie Feiler, Treasurer of the Board of Directors at NAMI Racine County. “We also wish to thank Michelle Gehring for her dedicated service to NAMI.”

NAMI Racine County is dedicated to eliminating the stigma unfairly associated with mental illness through advocacy efforts, support groups, and educational initiatives like NAMI Ending the Silence and NAMI Family-to-Family—two of the many programs NAMI Racine County provides.

“The mission of NAMI is deeply embedded in my heart,” shares Munson. “As a person intimately aware of the impact mental health conditions can have on an individual, family, and the broader community, I am privileged to be able to work with the dedicated staff and volunteers who will help bring our support, education, and advocacy programs to thousands in Racine County who can and will benefit. You are not alone.”
